Coding Update

Hi, Cloud speaking and I am here to update everyone on the state of the game, mainly the coding section.

From the first update log, it has come a long way, and I have learnt a lot in this game engine (Godot), mainly how to structure the code, how to place nodes, how to route signals and all that stuff.

The main loop of the game is almost done, I have almost finished the character script and have added the "For sale" sign, at which you can buy yourself a plot, or a barn. Our idea was to have 4 of these signs and you can buy whatever building you want. When you buy a plot you can plant some crops, water them every day until it is time for harvest, and for the barn you can buy animals (there is no max limit just yet), feed them so you can gain money from harvesting their goods everyday (no animals will be harmed in the making of the game!). So in theory, you buy plots if you have money and want to make a long term investment to gain more, or you can buy barns to gain quick cash if you are on a whim, but comparatively you gain less money overall.

In the next few days I want to finish the night scene scripts (where the real action takes place) and the save and load functions.

Good luck to everyone in the jam, and we'll be back with 1 or 2 more devlogs!

Textures look weird in the photos but they are good ingame... I swear...
